Link M Technologies’ Data
Validate System for Law Enforcement Vehicles Patent
Pending# 61/472,104 Validar 86
The
Validar 86 serves as the Law Enforcement Vehicles interpreter to a Mobile
Data Computer (MDC) where operational status changes are reported to the
Dispatch Center for instantaneous updates. This system also provides control
of vehicle apparatuses triggered by inputs from the units Break out Board or
from a preconfigured message sent by the Dispatch Center. All or selected event
changes can be configured to be stored in the non volatile memory with
Date/Time stamp for future record retrieval. |
|
The
Validar 86 includes 8 inputs and 6 outputs to facilitate vehicle system
signal monitoring and external apparatus control via two RJ45 receptacles
that allows remote placement of the Break out Board using low cost CAT5,
T568B terminated cable. A
95dB high pitched Sonalert speaker, located between the RJ45 receptacles, is
configurable to sound in response to any input for audible feedback to the
user and/or alert tone from the Dispatch Center. |
The
low power requirements of the Validar 86 are supplied by the host PC through
the 2.0 compliant B Type High Retention USB port. User
or Factory supplied configuration is stored in the non volatile memory with a
PC using a simple terminal emulator program. Field
software updates for the unit are performed through the “uC Flash Port”
avoiding unit removal and reinstallation. The
STATUS LED indicator idles GREEN when ON and toggles to RED when a configured
input has been detected. |

Break out Board functions and
features: · Enables the Input-Output signaling of the Validar 86 to be
terminated onto larger gauge wiring, typically found in vehicles, through the
screw type terminal blocks. · All monitored 12V signal inputs are protected with
Resettable Fuses to guard against potential wire heating resulting from
accidental pinched cable. · An onboard siren detect circuit senses the high power AC
signal and converts it to a logic DC signal. This input can also be
configured as a standard logic input. · Two field replaceable 20A/35A 14V relays provide NO and NC
contacts for external apparatus control. · The second “OUTPUT” RJ45 receptacle provides expansion to
an optional Break out Board containing four more relays. · Circuit board mounted on a PVC Din Rail channel for ease
of access. Expandability The
Validar 86 circuit design offers further expansion by decoding the inputs and
encoding the outputs to optional multiplexing modules that can provide: · Up to 63 monitored Inputs · Up to 63 driven Outputs |

Input-Output Parameter
Configuration Note: A software program is currently under development
that would allow the end users to custom configure all inputs and outputs by
name and logic as needed. I/O configuration is currently
programmed by manufacture to customer specifications. This includes: · Messages to MDC in response to inputs or logic of inputs · Relay control in response to inputs from Break out Board
or from Dispatch · Change of event recording with Date/Time stamp Unit
serial number or other pertinent information to be stored can be programmed
by the installer using a “form” program supplied by the manufacture to
facilitate unit setup at installation time. |

Event Storage This
system has an onboard serial EEPROM external to the microcontroller designed
to record 500 32 character messages in a continuous loop. Each memory
location is incremented as a recorded event occurs until the maximum is
reached then starts writing over the oldest record. These records can be accessed in
multiples or a complete dump for vehicle operational reviewing through the
USB with a PC using a simple terminal emulator program sending a
preconfigured command. A software program to simplify this function is
currently under development for the user. Example of memory retrieval
The
amount of recorded time is determined by the average number of recorded events per day. Example: · 500 records / 80 events per day = 6 days, 6Hrs (event
every 18 min.) · 500 records / 120 events per day = 4 days, 4Hrs (event
every 12 min.) · 500 records / 180 events per day = 2 days, 18Hrs (event
every 8 min.) Note: Stored records can only be retrieved and cannot be
altered or erased by accessing the memory. |

The Validar 86 Data Validate System can also be used with
other Emergency Response vehicles where critical data needs to be monitored,
transmitted through a MDC for status updates and recorded for operational
history review. Other uses may be found within the systems design
parameters. Contact us for confirmation of intended use or questions at (626)
